2019 TOCA Annual Meeting

The 2019 TOCA Annual Meeting will take place April 30-May 2 in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Embassy Suites Charlotte Uptown will be the headquarters for the 30th annual meeting.

Here is a look at the program for the TOCA Annual Meeting (as of 4/26/19):

Tuesday, April 30

2 p.m. - Board of Directors Meeting

6 p.m. - Informal meet and greet in hotel bar for newbies and “seasoned” professionals.

7 p.m. – Networking dinner at Fin & Fino (135 Levine Avenue of the Arts)


Wednesday, May 1

8:30 a.m. – Welcome & Introductions

9:00 a.m. - Welcome by the TOCA communications committee - #TOCA30

9:15 a.m. – Media Internship Recognition

9:30 a.m. – Environmental Communicator of the Year – sponsored by Project EverGreen

9:50 a.m. – Volunteer of the Year

10:00 a.m. – Break

10:15 a.m. – “Professional-grade Curious” – Refining Interviewing Skills – Mick Mixon, the play-by-play radio voice announcer for the Carolina Panthers

11:45 a.m. – boxed lunch and depart for the behind the scenes tour of the Wells Fargo Championshipsponsored by FMC

  • The Wells Fargo Championship takes place at Quail Hollow Club in May. A behind the scenes tour is being planned with Keith Wood, Quail Hollow superintendent; Lee Patterson, communications director for the tournament and others.
  • Due to the fabulous opportunity to tour and attend a PGA tournament, no golf option is being offered at this time.

In this actionable and approachable session, we'll convince the skeptics that analytics matter. We'll talk about the two overarching types of analytics information and what you can learn about your work and your audiences from each. Then we'll cover how you can improve them and easy wins to try right now. Then we'll go beyond website metrics and talk about information you can learn from social and elsewhere.
