Turfgrass Producers International (TPI) is a 501 c(6) non-profit trade association that is devoted to promoting the global environmental benefits and use of natural grass through education and research. It has members in over 40 U.S. states and 30 countries comprised of natural grass seed and sod producers, suppliers and manufacturers, educators, and industry associates. TPI serves its members by representing them in governmental, regulatory, and advocacy efforts as well as by providing member services including an annual conference, education, Turf News magazine, and more. The Membership Director at TPI leads in many of these efforts by working directly in Membership Management, Education Planning, Vendor/Supplier Relations, Social Media Account Management, and Turf News Magazine Advertising Support. This person is a direct liaison to TPI members and has the opportunity to positively impact farms, vendors/suppliers, educators, and the industry as a whole. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Membership and Marketing responsibilities include TPI Member Services, Membership Database Management, Advertising Sales for Turf News Magazine, and Social Media Account Management. The primary objectives are to provide a high level of service to TPI members, grow membership and advertising sales, assist in planning and implementing TPI conferences, and manage TPI’s social media accounts to promote TPI and the industry. This person also serves on several committees including the Conference and Education committee, Membership Committee, Fundraising Committee, and Manufacturer’s Advisory Council where they work with TPI members to coordinate various TPI activities and maximize member services.
Skills and Work Experience:
- Computer/Office Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other general office practices. Membership Database or Customer Relationship (CRM) software experience is a plus but not required.
- Marketing Skills: Social media account management, excellent writing and communication skills, graphic design skills and software experience are a plus but not required
- Organizational Skills: Responsible for managing TPI’s MemberSuite database with members in over 30 countries.
- Education Planning: Working with TPI staff and members to identify speakers and educational content for TPI events
- Willing to travel 2-3 weeks per year
Salary, Benefits, and Location:
TPI provides paid vacation and personal time, health care stipends, and retirement to full-time employees. Salary is commensurate with experience, and the location is negotiable. The ideal candidate would be willing to work from a home or office in Raleigh-Durham, USA and the preferred start date is mid-late 2019.

The Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communications (ALEC) Program is seeking a Professor or Associate Professor focused on the scholarship of agricultural communications. Candidates able to attain the rank of Professor and who possess an exceptional record of scholarship and leadership in the field of agricultural communications may be named the James Evans Endowed Professor, believed to be the only endowed position nationally in agricultural communications. The faculty position is provided on a 9-month (academic year) basis, with tenure residing in a department appropriate for the candidate’s area of research in the College of ACES, and will reflect 50% teaching and 50% research responsibilities.
